Does the capital process seem like a mystery?  Are you struggling to get more involved with evaluating and selecting medical equipment?  This session will introduce the basics of capital finance to HTM professionals.  The session will cover the basics of capital budgeting, funding, and tracking processes.  Research will be presented on ways in which HTM professionals can gain more involvement in capital processes.

This course will cover a variety of issues involving an HTM professional working with Information Technologies. Understanding the basic education needed will be addressed. There are many common components involved with networking HTM devices which are important to understand. Software is a major issue with any modern HTM device, knowing what software is used is extremely important. Documentation is becoming more important due to increased security issues in the Healthcare Environment. How to identify a vulnerability is very important and increases the value of an HTM professional. Support of IT networks is becoming of increased importance and a very good opportunity to increase the value of an HTM professional/department.

Care and Handling of Endoscopes and Ultrasound TEE Transducers

This presentation will cover the care and handling of endoscopes and ultrasound TEE transducers. Two different devices that share many, but not all, of the same care and handling concerns. The anatomy of these devices will be reviewed for a proper understanding of how care can affect different parts of the two device types. I will also review the types of issues that can be repaired while discussing how you can communicate these care and handling techniques to hospital staff.
